We Stole Saturday - Seeing Ghosts EP review
About the band:
We Stole Saturday are an Irish metalcore band formed in the county of Kildare in 2018. The band released their first EP called “Seeing Ghosts” earlier this year.
The EP consists of six songs each heavier than the last, the opening track just called 'intro" is a lyricless fusion of metal and trap, which is surprisingly good together.
An ending we didn't deserve is the next track, this is a great song, lyrically it's clear with a good message, although its very reminiscent of bands like early Asking Alexandria and Taking Back Sunday, some of the early 2000s biggest metalcore and emo bands. The band have spoken word parts in this song which are very like La dispute, not a lot of bands would attempt it, because if it's not done right it sounds off, but We Stole Saturday pull it off seamlessly empty reflections has some edm inspired parts near the end that blend well with the metalcore sounds that come before and after. Same with time has no loving hands, they manage to fuse two very opposing sides of music, they also cycle through rough, heavy vocals and softer clean vocals, which is basically genre standard.
The whole EP is a metalcore/EDM fusion, but it's done right, for a first release its pretty good and I personally can't wait to hear more from the Irish up and comers. Their influences are easy to see in their music and for quite a new band it sound really good, probably the best first release I've heard so far
